It did my heart well to see so many take part in the parade and so many to come out and line the streets to show their support. Color guard , marching bands, music and motorcycle.
It saddened my heart as well because Veterans day should be everyday ( 365 days a year ) . Our Veterans should not only be saluted everyday but should be given the help they need on a daily basis.
All gave some – some gave all
Time was served – Time to honor.
They did not serve one day a year in the military.
They did not fight and die on the front lines or in the jungle one day a year.
They live with the wars experience more than one day a year.
Those who were wounded live with their wounds more than one day a year.
Those who lost their legs don’t walk 364 days a year and wheel chair for one.
The close to half a million homeless Vets today do not sleep in a house 364 days a year and on the streets for one.
The family’s of those who lost a loved one for your freedoms do not have a father , mother, brother, sister 364 days a year and only feel the lose on Veterans day, or Memorial Day.
It has been estimated that only about 1 out of every 200 Americans have a family member in the military today. For them, Veterans Day is everyday.
For the family’s of the 58,000 who died in Vietnam who’s names are on the Vietnam Memorial Wall, Veterans day is everyday.
For those who have a family member in harms way in Iraq or Afghanistan, Veterans day is 24 / 7 . Who knows it feel it. I declare everyday Veterans day. I declare everyday Memorial Day .
Just because you have a “I support our troops” sticker on your car or the American flag does not make you a Patriot.
You cannot take anything to the grave with you.
You came into this world with nothing and you will leave this world with nothing.
We need to leave the world a better place than we found it.
Do you think that when you reach the Pearly gates you will be asked how much money you have? Or will you possibly be asked what have you done for humanity? What have you done to help a Veteran in need? Those in need , need your help more than one day a year.
The nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten. You throw away at least a dollar a day in the garbage can. You can give at least a dollar a day to organizations who help our Veterans in need.
Everyday you wake up to a day of freedom remember that “FREEDOM IS NOT FREE”. You live in the land of the free because of the brave.
EVERYDAY IS VETERANS DAY.
God Bless our Veterans. God Bless our Troops
God Bless you for giving.
God Bless American.
