VETERANS TRIBUTE BIKE CRIS – CROSSES EASTERN U.S.
Article by Robert Harris.

From Brooksville, FL to Laconia, N. H. to New Milford, Connecticut to St. Augustine, FL to Washington, D.C., to Brooksville, FL in under three weeks. I am exhausted and will take the month of July for my R+R.

Laconia , N. H. was good fundraising and good times.
New Milford , CT . was a good cause with good friends.
St Augustine , Florida was a commitment I made as I accepted the invitation as guest of honor at the “ Combat Vets Motorcycle Associations National Convention to share the Tribute Bike with my fellow Combat Vet brothers. They were glad I came and I was happy to be there ( respect begets respect ).

The highlight of my cris – cross up and down the East Coast was being able to share the Veterans Tribute Bike with our country’s Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington , D.C. on June 26th.

Photo:With Robert Harris are Amputee - Jared Lemen from Alaska. A paratrooper with the 82rd Airborne he lost his arm in the A.R.V. River Valley outside Kandahar City ,Afghanistan. In wheel chair - Staff Sargent Juan Roldan 1st. Battalions 26th. Infantry  ( Big red one ) lost his legs  by an EFP in Sodar City , Iraq.

I was asked to attend this function put on by the Maryland Patriot Guard and to enter the Veterans Tribute Bike in the by invitation only bike show to be judged by the Wounded Warriors. To see so many young men with missing arms, legs, eyes, etc. really brings home the reality of war. There were many more inside the hospital who were unable to come outside which I did not get to meet. Those I did speak with were optimistic and were already making plans for a future as amputees. Their courage both on and off the battlefield is typical of our fighting men. They have my respect as they should have yours and every Americans. These young warriors will face the rest of their lives handicapped.

Our Soldiers do not make policy . That is done by our elected officials. They follow orders . They fight and die on the battlefield because that’s what soldiers do.

We never leave anyone behind on the battlefield and we should not leave any one behind on the streets. If you love and enjoy your freedoms don’t just thank a Vet, donate to organizations who help our Veterans in need.

All gave some – some gave all.
Time was served – Time to honor.
The nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten.
GOD BLESS YOU.
GOD BLESS AMERICA.
Freedom is not free.
We are the land of the free because of the brave,

Robert Harris – “ Sky Soldier “
